I realized recently that I tend to eat breakfast at a lot of Australian spots. I grew up in Los Angeles so the ingredients they use and dishes they serve are so similar to what I ate back home – I guess my subconscious is telling me I’m homesick?!
Citizens of Chelsea is actually an awesome breakfast/brunch place – they have “super fun happy” bowls, a variety of smash toasts, and breakfast bowls that are so delicious that you forget how healthy the meal is! Their menu can be found here.
TIP:
Citizens of Chelsea opens at 7:30am so it is highly recommended to go before 11am to avoid the brunch crowd. After 11am, you will most likely have to put your name down and queue up.

We ordered a few things to share: Coconut and Blueberry Bircher Muesli (was recommended by our server over the Raspberry Chia Pudding), Smashing Avocado, and the Belgian Waffle.
The muesli was probably my favorite of the three only because I was so surprised at how good it was! It consists of overnight-soaked oats with coconut, fresh blueberries, cacao nibs, cashews, fresh fruits, maple syrup and blueberry panna cotta. It certainly is very filling – we couldn’t finish it. It’s also quite dense in texture but I didn’t mind it.

The smashing avocado is always a crowd-favorite. It does contain cilantro (I’m personally not a fan) but it was so mild I could barely taste it. Garnished with beet hummus, pumpkin seeds, watermelon radishes and pickled onions, you better believe we just inhaled this one!

We also ordered the Belgian waffle because who doesn’t love Liège waffles? Served with Nutella powder, almonds, fresh fruit, raw berry compote and drizzled with maple syrup, it was recommended over the Banana-nana Split.
