Cha Cha Matcha is probably one of the most popular cafés in the city. A matcha-only café, they serve a variety of year-round and seasonal matcha drinks as well as soft-serve with rotating flavors in addition to their matcha flavor. Sometimes they make latte art and other times they use stencils. They have two locations, one in SoHo and one in Nomad.
They’re vegan friendly so a majority of their drinks actually use coconut milk or other dairy alternatives. One of my favorite winter drinks is their azuki (red bean) matcha latte because it’s the perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Matcha on its own is extremely bitter so many tend to dislike the taste and find it to be grassy. A popular summer favorite is their matcha yuzu lemonade which is tart and refreshing.
The soft serve is not vegan, however, but one of the best matcha soft serves in the city. They always have their matcha flavor but the second flavor rotates almost every month. Some of their more interesting combinations are the coffee and the pumpkin spice.
