Cha Cha Matcha is probably one of the most popular cafés in the city. A matcha-only café, they serve a variety of year-round and seasonal matcha drinks as well as soft-serve with rotating flavors in addition to their matcha flavor. Taiyaki NYC

Lauded as one of the most Instagrammable ice cream joints in New York City, Taiyaki NYC made its mark in the city by serving soft serve ice cream inside a “taiyaki” (a Japanese fish-shaped bread normally filled with red bean or custard).

Since they’ve opened, they have expanded their menu to include the “croyaki”, a hybrid of a croissant and a taiyaki, as well as their vegan taro slushie. Once in a while, they will also have special decorations for their soft serves, like a Christmas tree or an Easter bunny! Over the summer, the unicorn taiyaki was extremely popular. An off-shoot of Dominique Ansel Bakery, Dominique Ansel Kitchen is a fusion of a “retail bakery with a restaurant service kitchen”. They have a lot more interesting pastries and desserts (they are honestly much fancier) and tend to have a lot of last-minute specials that create a more exciting experience.
