Our last day trip was to Siena, a small city within Tuscany. We left early in the morning (before 8am) to go to Siena since it take roughly two hours to get there. One extremely special feature of Siena is its cathedral. The Duomo de Siena (Siena Cathedral) is the only black-and-white building in the entire city. Sam and I took the 8am train to Monterosso for our day trip to the amazing Cinque Terre. Known as the “Five Lands”, Cinque Terre comprises of five connecting coastal towns and is located in the Liguria region of Italy. The name of the five towns are: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore (in the order of farthest to closest). We started out in Monterosso to do the hiking trail to Vernazza. Right after Vatican City, we had to go back to our Airbnb to pick up our things and get to Roma Termini to take the train to Pisa. We decided to stay in Pisa for two nights and go on two day trips to the following places: Cinque Terre and Siena. I was stuck between Siena and San Gimignano but decided to stick with Siena. Logistically, it might have made more sense to stay in Florence but Sam had already been to Florence so Pisa was the next best alternative.
