We had about a half day left in Keswick before we had to take the train to Leeds. I wanted to visit the Yorkshire Dales and the easiest way to do that was to go to Leeds, rent a car for the day and drive up to the Dales. We had our final breakfast at the bed and breakfast, visited Derwentwater one last time, and then took the bus back to Penrith Rail Station to take the train to Leeds. We took the early morning train to Penrith since it was a 4.5-hour transit. I’ve had the Lake District on my list ever since I learned there was a Peter Rabbit museum since this was where Beatrix Potter lived and wrote her infamous “Peter Rabbit”. It is a mountainous area in northern England, inside the county of Cumbria and is considered the wettest area in the entire country. Famous for its lakes, forests and mountains (or “fells”) and its associations with the early 19th century writings of William Wordsworth, it’s a fairly popular holiday destination.
