Dominique Ansel Bakery

Of course one of the NYC staples is the cronut from Dominique Ansel Bakery. When cronuts first came out, queues were so long that people would put ads on Craigslist to get paid to stand in queue. Some people paid up to $40 for two cronuts! This croissant-doughnut hybrid definitely started the hybrid craze – now there are dough-ssants, cruffins, and whatever else you can imagine!

DID YOU KNOW?
Every Monday at 11am EST, you can pre-order up to sixcronuts (you can only purchase a maximum of two in person). Pre-orders can be made here.

Every month the flavor of the cronut changes and the flavor of the month is posted on their site. I pre-order cronuts every month to try all of the flavors and for the most part, they definitely make very interesting combinations that surprisingly work. One thing to note though, the texture of the cronut gets a bit stale over the summer due to the humidity.

I tend to order a lot of their other desserts as well – their kouign amann is pretty incredible. They also sell religieuse (which are two stacked choux pastries) in different characters and are super cute! People also tend to get the cookie shots and the frozen s’mores.
