Bienvenido a España

I have always wanted to visit Spain ever since I was interested in architecture as a child (I went through a period of being obsessed over flying buttresses, which flourished during the Gothic period). Spain is known for its myriad of pure Gothic cathedrals in the north and Islamic architecture in the south. Even in my 10th grade Spanish class, we learned about the history of Spain, about Catalunya, and Andalucía with its Islamic influence. Continue reading “Bienvenido a España”

Sawasdee kha from Thailand

Until this trip to Thailand (also known as  the “Land of Smiles”), I have never been to Asia before – not even South Korea! Ever since I immigrated to the States from Brazil, my trips had always been contained to domestic travels and once I received my green card in 2014, limited to travelling to Europe. This trip to Thailand was also the farthest I’ve ever flown so it was definitely quite the experience.

A Week in the Netherlands

A Week in the Netherlands

After spending Konigsdag in Amsterdam (you can read all about that particular adventure here), I went on a brief trip to Belgium and came back to spend the rest of my stay in the Netherlands. There’s a lot to see and explore outside of Amsterdam, especially in the spring! For example, Keukenhof, one of the world’s largest gardens, is only open for 8 weeks from April to May.  Continue reading “A Week in the Netherlands”

I took the early morning train from the Amsterdam train station to Brussels. It was an express train with a direct route so it was a pretty easy and relaxing ride!
