Again, all museum tickets should be purchased in advance to avoid long lines. One thing to note in Florence is that Michelangelo’s David is in the Galleria dell’Accademia (Accademia Gallery). A lot of tourists think it’s the David in the main square but it’s actually in a museum. From Venice, I took the evening train to Florence. I was going to be in Florence for four days before heading to Amalfi Coast. I actually had a friend fly out to Florence from Basel, Switzerland just to go around for a few days before I flew my sister out (we were going to spend a week together in Italy since we never travelled together internationally). The Airbnb we stayed in was great because they had casual breakfast set up every morning and it was within walking distance of all the major tourist spots (eg. museums, cathedrals). Our final day in Venice was spent going on a few guided tours. Our first guided tour was a “Secret Tour” of the Doge’s Palace. Sam and I actually went to Venice after our Siena day trip. We went back to our Airbnb from Siena and took the last train leaving Pisa to Venice. It’s roughly a four-hour train ride so we arrived in Venice pretty late. When you get to Venezia Santa Lucia, you need to take the vaporetto to actually get to the main square in Venice. Our last day trip was to Siena, a small city within Tuscany. We left early in the morning (before 8am) to go to Siena since it take roughly two hours to get there. One extremely special feature of Siena is its cathedral. The Duomo de Siena (Siena Cathedral) is the only black-and-white building in the entire city.
