So Sam had the day off so the first thing I wanted us to do was take the train to Giethoorn for a day trip. Considered the “Venice of the Netherlands”, it’s a small town surrounded by only footbridges and canals. That’s right – no cars are allowed in the old town, whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. I wanted us to visit Giethoorn because it was a throwback to our Italy trip where we went to Venice. A Week in the Netherlands

After spending Konigsdag in Amsterdam (you can read all about that particular adventure here), I went on a brief trip to Belgium and came back to spend the rest of my stay in the Netherlands. There’s a lot to see and explore outside of Amsterdam, especially in the spring! For example, Keukenhof, one of the world’s largest gardens, is only open for 8 weeks from April to May.  Continue reading “A Week in the Netherlands”
